Shampain’s recent set at Mixmag’s in The Lab in Pune in India is now available to watch. The Galwegian native runs through a cocktail of broken tribal rhythms alongside sizzling techno grooves, providing a whirl-winded look into forward thinking percussive focussed dance music.

Earlier this year G-TOWN RECORDS boss Shampain embarked on his debut India tour where he played for both Boiler Room & Mixmag. The short trip was landmark goal for the Galwegian as he travelled 8,000km from his home in rural Ireland to showcase his craft.

Shampain has seen a number notable gigs and milestone achievements within music come his way within recent years including gracing the booth in legendary club spaces such as Subclub, Amnesia, Village Underground and World Headquarters to name but a few.

The former VSN boss shows exactly why he is so high in demand right now on his debut Mixmag Lab. Cross genre madness on this one as Shampain manages to marry an amalgamation of jarring percussive rhythms into a cohesive and staggering hour mix that goes in any & every direction. From sub-rattling low-end growlers from Bamao Yendé, to avante-garde techno thrillers from Blawan & Pariah‘s Voam imprint, right through to classy Detroit shuffles from Jeff Mills. Shampain fuses contradictory flavours with ease and rolls them up into a big hearty Irish stew. A triumphant win for one of Ireland’s gutsiest selectors.
