In a statement shared online this week, the founder of Club Soda confirmed that the Tramore club night, which has been running for the past year, is no longer financially sustainable in its current format.
“Sharing some big news today regarding Club Soda,” the statement began, thanking supporters who attended events over the past 12 months. The organiser described the past year as a major learning experience, saying they had “met some incredible people” and expressing gratitude to those who helped transform “an empty room into an incredible dance space.”
The club’s previous roster of guests saw it bring some of house and techno’s most regarded artists to Tramore, including Ian Pooley, Marcellus Pittman, Or:la and Sunil Sharpe, among others.
“Club Soda was always about the music and was never about money,” the statement read. “I put in a huge amount of effort to make these nights actually work, but the overall costs for each night were through the roof, and unfortunately, right now it’s unsustainable to keep going.”
Despite the setback, the announcement stopped short of confirming a full closure. Instead, the organiser revealed plans for a new and larger project, signalling that live music and dance events will continue in a different format.
“I’m unsure about the future of Club Soda at this moment. I’m not closing the book on it entirely,” the statement said. “But I’m delighted to announce I’m working on a new (bigger) project, which means the music and dancing won’t stop.”
