Dundalk Institute of Technology is offering three new undergraduate music and audio degrees through the CAO. From September 2024 the college will offer a BA (Hons) in Music and Performance Technologies, a BA (Hons) in Sound Design and a BA (Hons) in Audio Computing.

Saturday, January 20, 2024, DkIT hosts a Courses and CAO information morning. School leavers, mature students, and parents can learn about DkIT student life, finance, and personal growth. The information morning runs from 10 am – 1 pm on the DkIT campus. This gives people the chance to learn more about their new undergraduate music and audio degrees.

Each of the classes is designed to give a hands-on approach to the art of creating, mixing, and recording music. Small class sizes, state-of-the-art equipment and lecturers make their new course offerings conducive to learning new skills in a comfortable environment.

The BA (Hons) in Music and Performance Technologies gives musicians the musical experience and knowledge they need to flourish in Ireland and beyond. Modern artists need musical skills like performance, theory, history, composition, and improvisation as well as technology and business abilities like music production, digital collaboration, creative coding, and entrepreneurship. Together, these two areas aim to develop graduates who are skilled and confident in the broad knowledge and competencies needed by modern music makers, educators, and performers.

The BA in Audio Computing meets industry needs for graduates with music and audio programming skills and sound synthesis and processing knowledge. This course teaches students how to program and construct audio and music apps by teaching them how to digitally represent sound and music. Representation, processing, querying, analysis, synthesis, and production of all music and audio data are key.

The BA (Hons) in Sound Design teaches sound design, programming, and implementation for games and interactive media in the audio-visual sector. This course promotes research, critical thought, and communication while teaching design, implementation, teamwork, and entrepreneurship. The course promotes creativity and professionalism for participation and collaboration.
